ORIGIN: Wairarapa CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Mild winter and warm spring resulting in an early bud-burst, leading into a cooler than usual summer, followed by an early autumn.
DATE OF HARVEST: 1st - 13th April 2014 HARVEST & VINIFICATION: Block B is a selection of the Dijon Pinot Noir clones; specifically the clones 115, 667, 777, 114 and 113. Hand-picked and careful selection of grapes. 100% de-stemmed, cold-maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats and left on “skins” for 3 weeks. Aged in 45% new and 55% used French oak barriques for 18 months.
DATE OF BOTTLING: 18th February 2016 ALC: 14.5% VOL TASTING NOTES: Lifted aromas of wild berries with hints of aromatic spices, truffles, a trace of forest floor with a lingering note of tobacco. A beautiful entrance of wild blackberries and cherries leading to a rich velvelty texture of dark Ghana chocolate, underlying toasted spices and a fine minerality. A powerful finish of well-structured tannins and pure finesse. A wine of great potential for aging.
